You need to be more specific. Desktop background, app drawer background, messaging background..... I could go on, but you get what I'm saying.

It is also important to know what software you are running. Stock, ROM, ADW Launcher etc.

Inverted settings background is no easy task, not only would you edit the xml's for the background but you would have to edit the text xml's - even some of the most seasoned themers still struggle with xml and smali edits

I suggest you visit the ROM section of this forum and look at some of the screen shots until you find one you like, then install it.

Have you tried Hascodes CM7 build? Backgrounds are black and is pretty stable. There are a few bugs and no stock camera, but there is plenty of settings for you to toy with.
Just to be clear, this is not just a ROM that changes your colors. It removes all things blur and replaces them with stock Android, then throws in a bunch of extra tweaks and mods.
