Foxfi

I have had great success with FoxFi on my LG G2X, connecting to my Xoom. Has anyone downloaded the recent OTA Xoom update and still found FoxFi to work?
Thanks

No I haven't downloaded the most recent update. I have a bad habit of neglecting updates, especially if the product is working just fine and even more so when unwanted permissions are added.

I downloaded the update for the wifi Xoom last week & Foxfi still works with the update.

I use Foxfi with my laptop, works great. With my Xoom I just connect thru Bluetooth without using Foxfi since internet Bluetooth works straight out the box on razr.

Do you know if the Razr Maxx can connect to the internet using Bluetooth with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (without using FoxFi)?
So far FoxFi is working fine. I would like to have a backup plan in case future OS updates find a way to block FoxFi.

There are some reports that Verizon has caught on and has started to charge for Hot Spot. Read the reviews, especially the ones in recent days.

Some examples:

Greg on May 5, 2012 (Version 1.81)Gotta love Verizon

Download this app and it worked great for a couple of days. Then Verizon caught on and put a stop to it. I have a Motorola Droid2 X. Everything was working great, then I started to get a message when I tried to tether that my phone could not be used as a wifi hotspot unless I contact verizon.

Peggy on May 5, 2012 (Version 1.81)verizon will charge

Was going to give 5 stars bwcause it runs good and could use with xbox360 till i got my bill. I was under the impression verizon would not charge as it bypasses their system. Got my bill today and low and behold they detected i was using hotspot thru this program the first time i started it and they activated my hotspot thru their system so got charged an extra $20/mon fee for hotspot. I will not be using this program again and i recommend anyone with verizon not use it either especially razr owners, you will get activated mt $30/mon for 4g hotspot as my husband did.

Conner on May 4, 2012 (Version 1.81)Charged

Worked great until I got a text from the company I use saying that I'm being charged because of this app.

And for curiosity how do they determine, other than analyzing data, if u r using foxfi?

I have no idea. Maybe these people screwed something up or maybe VZW has a way of knowing about this kind of thing? Either way, I thought it would be a good idea to share this info with the forum.

Def a good idea. I havent been using it like crazy, just twice for a couple hours each time. It works great. Hopefully we can continue to use it.

Any rooted users can adjust their settings using SQlite. By altering "entitlement check" under settings in SQlite. This will let your razr connect and bypass the account checker.
I've not heard any issues doing it this way. Since it's a registry setting adjustment I'm thinking it slides under their radar.
