Seriously though, it's inexcusable that the app for the de-facto standard in social networking on a platform Google is attempting to usurp Apple with has been broken due to a freaking parse error for over a week.
Is there a single developer working on this? I mean seriously, is there one single person who has looked into it? This is a big crack in the Android ecosystem, and whatever the cause it represents a major problem if Google ever wants to be really competitive with Apple in the long term. The Android facebook app is nowhere near as robust or complete as the iPhone app and it's had considerable problems... now a parse error has persisted for about 8 days.
I don't know if it is some bickering between the two companies or what but it needs to get fixed, and soon.
is this documented as a wide-spread issue? my notifications are coming in just fine. well, just fine in relation to the quality of the app, but they work.
Notifications have been failing due to a parse error on my Droid as well. Log-in/off does not rectify the issue. I have been using m.facebook for anything other than news feed updates.
Here is a quick question... is everyone who is having this issue using a gmail account as their login? My friend using his Eris does not have the issue but is using a MSN account as his login. Perhaps the parser error is due to the fact it is trying to execute something incorrectly because of the @gmail.com text string?
I am also having the parse error when trying to retrieve notifications on the facebook app. It started a couple days ago after working for a few weeks. I have tried logging out and in. And rebooting my phone. I've also screwed around with the facebook app settings. Anyone have any ideas how to fix it or is it just a problem that need a bug fix?
