Facebook Contacts - don't want them all

Hi! New to this and to cool smartphones!

I downloaded the Facebook app and it pulled in ALL of my 500 contacts. How do I download the app without all those contacts filtering in?

You should be able to download the app in the market. If you already have it downloaded just open it and go into setting check the circle marked with something about exsisting contacts only.

You go into the settings from the main facebook page of the app, not the web page.

I still dont see where this check box is. After opening the facebook app, i see 6 icons, none of which are settings. If i hit the menu key and then settings, i do not see anything about existing contacts. please help

I had this issue on mine. I had used the built in FB and it loaded all my friends into contacts. I just went in to the social networking and unistalled my FB info. Now I only have my phone contacts listed!

I see how you can filter through different groups, but still not sure how to keep the facebook app but delete all my facebook contacts. Anyone have ideas?

In facebook settings, you should have sync contacts. When you chose that you have the option to chose sync all/existing as well as the ability to remove facebook data

I apologize, but I am not seeing this. Let me walk you through what I do and maybe you can help me.

Open Facebook app
Press "Menu" button
Select "Settings"

In here are the following options to choose from:

Refresh interval
Notifications
Messages
Pokes
Friend requests
Event invites
Vibrate
Phone LED
Notification ringtone
Helpful tips

I dont see "sync contacts" anywhere... can someone point me in the right direction please

lol. yea. first thing I did this morning when i bought the phone was check this out, and i can confirm that CURRENTLY, with the DROID X, the Facebook for Android app LACKS the settings for contact syncing. I came for the Droid 1, so I know what I was looking for.

And even better, if you try to go in through accounts and access it, moto blur gets in the way.

Thanks Motorola, im really enjoying the freedom to do what I want on Android.

I just got rid of my facebook account on my Droid X because I downloaded the facebook app, and it deleted all of my phone contacts that I had transfered over from my old phone. WTF!!

Now some of them came back when I added my facebook account but not all of them. What the **** is going on? Why would facebook have anything to do with contacts that I imported from my old phone?

Have the same issue; I just filtered it in contacts but I'm still annoyed that it downloaded it to begin with. Seriously!!!
