How do I get into the recovery mode on bootup? I thought you hold the D2's search button while powering up, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Are you trying to get into Custom Recovery or Stock Recovery?

If you are trying to get into Stock, follow the post above directions.

As for Clockwork Mod, you need to boot up your phone, wait till it gets passed the "M" and pull your battery out, then put it back in the it should either power itself back on or you need to turn it on and it will boot into CWM, or if it won't go past M then you need to pull after the M has been up for a few seconds.

I did the very same thing. Once you get booted into the OS, open voice commands by double tapping the home key and direct it to either the market to download bootstrapper or to run bootstrapper if it's already installed, bootstrap, reboot, and recover from a previous backup
