Email notification question

I set up my one and only Gmail account on my Droid. And now, whenever I get an email, I get 2 notifications.

1 as a generic "Email" notification and...
1 as a Gmail notification.

Does anyone know how to consolidate this into 1 notification? Thanks

Basically, I want to remove my account in the EMAIL app, but keep my account in the GMAIL app.

OR

Just turn off notifications for the EMAIL app. Any tips? Thanks

go into email - select the account in question, click the menu button, and from there you can turn off notifications.

Aww man, thanks so much. I thought I had tried that, but I must've been trying it through GMail and not Email.

When I first got my G1 back in Oct 2008, I entered my gmail account both in the Gmail app and the Email app not realizing that I didn't need to use the "Email" app for my gmail account.
