I have 2 email accounts outside of gmail that I use, once I set them up on the phone, I can receive mail on both accounts but when I try to either reply or send email though those accounts, I get the above mentioned error messages?

Any ideas as to why I can receive but not send on these accounts?

Thanks

Ok, I enabled the SSL and tried sending an email and received the same error.

Anything else to try?

Double check your settings...
Are you on Wifi or 3G?

3G...I have played around with the SSL and Certificate settings, tried both on and off with no success. Weird I can receive with no problem, just trying to send is where I hit a snag...

setting smtp port to 587 is needed by some ISPs to send. you may want to contact your ISP for instructions.

Use K9 instead of the stock client

OK, found the problem and it turned outto be a simple one. On the Outgoing Server I had my full username and email addy in place where I only needed my username. I removed the @whatever and it started working. I had a Homer Simpson moment...lol

Thanks for all of the assistance...
