Droidx software update

Is it adviseable to download the new android update version 2.2(froyo)?? And what is the version of my droidx right now?? I never been update it since I got it.

I was about to post on this subject..... but why the HECK is Verizon texting people that they should now have 2.2 (Froyo! Whoooo) on their X now? That was released Months ago!
