What is a "Droid X System Dump Leak"?[h=1][/h]

I am not sure what the leak part of it means. But as far as I know it is literally a "dump" of everything in the system folder including apps, wallpapers, ring tones, etc. As far as what is done with it I am not certain but I am assuming the information can then be used by experienced/knowledgeable devs and hackers.
