System dump.. How to install

I see there's a whole system dump for the Droid X how do you install this? Or can you just install whatever you what?

I see 162 apps in the Apps folder, can any of those be installed?

Some apps you can install, others no. Someone has already taken the multi-touch keyboard app and installed it on the Droid 1. It's named latinxxx.apk

You can open the file on your computer, navigate around, find the apk's and try to install them. Good idea to back up your phone first too

To clarify: A system dump is merely a copy of the /system partition on your phone, and because this is a dump from a Droid X, it will NOT work with any other phone out-of-the-box. This merely is a starting place for devs to pick up an apk and then modify and resign it so that it will work with a different phone.

Unless you luck out. In the goodies thread is a slideshow widget that came from another phone. I've been using it for a long time. Nice little app that flips through an assigned folder's images, letting you pick the folder and therefore the images. Up to 4 slideshows will fit on a desktop. I've got pets, kids, and travel.

But, most apk's just FC'd or were buggy.
