Droid X Slow Contact Search in Navigation

Can anyone help? I have a Droid X (Verizon) and when I use the search/lookup contact in Navigation it is INCREDIBLY SLOW! Often it is well over a minute to find someone by name. I have about 3000 contacts.

However, I also use DejaOffice (to synch to Outlook) and the search from within DejaOffice is extremely fast.

Is there a solution to speed up the contact search/lookup in Navigation? Or can I tell Navigation to use the DejaOffice contact search?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess I'm not getting where you're coming from. You are using navigator, then you decide to bring up a contact, correct? So are you pressing the search and saying call Rick? Or what exactly are you doing?

If you start Navigator, press "Contacts", then it's really slow from there on. Using contact list to navigate to contact address.

Does anyone have any ideas? Problems with incredibly slow contact address searches from Navigation.
