Droid spam, pop-ups

OK, i'm confused.
Many of the apps come with built in ads which is essentially spam no matter how you slice it.
I'm pretty sure everyone knows not to click this garbage on your PC, why is it on your phone??
The Facebook chat app has clickable ads scrolling across the top of the screen.
Why do I get the feeling Droids will be infected with all kinds of viruses soon?

Because you're used to Windows PCs. Android is Linux-based, making it a whole 'nother animal.

You have ads in programs on your phone because you downloaded programs that are ad supported. If you don't like it, don't install ad supported apps! None of the stock Android applications have ads. Apps that you pay for generally do not have ads. It is only free apps that typically have ads. This provides money to the person who made the app.
