Droid Pro receives no love. What gives?

Well? I purchased this device when it released, and have only received one update? Obviously this device isn't perfect, so why isn't it receiving any attention?

I think that it wasn't received well with the business sector (the exchange issue) and the rooting community isn't looking at it because it "looks like a BB" which is ridiculous in my opinion.

I know that a few folks on here have it but I think that overall, the phone didn't do as well as VZW would have liked.

I know the Droid 2 isn't the latest and greatest, but I've been eyeballin' it. I found a guy willing to trade, and am debating it. I just don't want to jump into it too hastily.

My Pro has recently been plagued with random reboots, which is quite annoying.

Not to mention it's aedited by moderator that reboots all the time.

Seems to be a problem for some, and not for others. Mine has never had this issue. The Droid X I had before the Pro was another story though. It randomly rebooted all the time.

I love the Droid Pro. It's certainly not perfect, but it's closer to my perfect phone than anything else out there at the moment.

maybe im speaking to soon, but mines never rebooted on its own. phones dont reboot on thier own... theres always a reason. some random app you installed did it...this os is very stable, but the things you add spark instabilty. assuming that the phone must be bad just because it reboots is just that...and you know what they say about people who assume. ive not had a single issue, and ive only received 1 update... i consider that a sign that there have not been tons of major updates to fix issues like some other phones have had... this is a selling point, imo

I'm not to sure the Pro isn't getting "the love" it deserves. From following this forum and other Android forums it appears that Moto has a tendency to release a phone, wait a week or two, put out an update and then waits about six months before putting out another update...perhaps that mode of operations applies to the Pro. It's difficult to know what marketing strategy Moto had in mind when it decided to come-up with the Pro. Without a reliable solution for corporate email sync the Pro is DEAD in the business world unless the business uses Google as its enterprise solution. As far as other problems...from my point of view, the only issue I have is the occasional rebooting. However, I have to admit that the rebooting has never caused me a problem during phone calls, email, texting or web browsing. As far as I can tell my phone only reboots when the 3g signal strength is very, very low, and seldom at that. I hope Moto sticks with the Pro form factor and in particular a phone with something other than a virtual keyboard...and not a slider. Have faith my fellow Pro users...I'm sure an update is in the works.

I think it's the small screen that is keeping many users away. If people are going to jump to Android from a BB, they are looking at all of those big beautiful 4.3" screens then seeing the little DP screen and shying away. I personally love it and even came back to it last week after trying the Thunderbolt for a week. That thing was just huge and the DP feels so much more secure and stable in my hands. If they can ever get the exchange bugs fixed, it might garner more attention. Some advertising wouldn't hurt either. The boards at Motorola's website show a few Moto people saying they are working on fixes for email and a few other things, but no one has offered any dates for updates.

agree! with every update comes the potential need to update every single app on your phone. i prefer less updates from moto as it means less issues with my installed apps. people want more? ive followed the threads post updates and it can be nightmarish. why cant less equal more stable "äs is" in those folks thought process? more love went in before the release, and less attention is needed now. if perfection is desired, then talk to app develpers before they release an app that bricks your phone. if it aint broke, dont fix it! moto shouldnt have to release updates to make ur phone work better with apps that you install. its the other way. developers need to polish thier turds rather than rushing to release. how often r u checking and updating all ur apps. just sayin.. we should count our blessings, but as you said, updates are imminent. i just hope we dont get more than we bargained for as a result....

p.s.- the pro will only die as a resut of end users faining interest. i dont need the proper sync functionality, but it may not be a good enough business platform without this function. for private use i find it phenominal. perhaps this is why im content äs is!

@jrdroidpro

I would have to disagree about the apps.

A CLNR my wife got, rebooted out of the box. Every 5 - 10 mins.

It's a known issue.

Trust me. :(

INTERESTING OBSERVATION: Just out of curiosity I went to the Thunderbolt section on Android Forums to research to see what, if any, problems/issues Thunderbolt users were experiencing. Interesting enough, Thunderbolt users are experiencing the random reboot issue just like Pro users. One has to wonder if the reboot issue is a carrier issue and not a hardware/software issue on the Pro. There were a number of other issues but the reboot one caught my eye.

Mine tends to randomly reboot some times for no apparent reason, but also if I receive a text at the exact moment I end a call too. Also, at times, my bluetooth will refuse to toggle on, or cause a reboot while trying to toggle it on. Videos/live news feeds tend to cause my phone to reboot as well.

Bad apps are causing random reboots, since I deleted Go Chat, I haven't experience it since.

u call them random, but i can complete every 1 of those actions with no issue. something you added is creating the problem, or you got a bad phone. you can sit and wait for moto to update, but i highly doubt it will magicly fix Your issues... try troubleshooting installed apps! not knowing the cause does not equal no cause, apparent or otherwise ;)

Every app that I have, my wife has.

Her phone doesn't do it.

Yes, it can be a phone issue and is a widespread one. Drives me insane to see people dismiss such terrible quality control.
