Droid - Pay As You Go?

I'd like a droid, but seeing as I don't make a huge amount of phone calls, the actual phone part of it isn't all that important to me. Along the same lines, I don't want a data plan - wifi is all that will be required for my plans.

So is it possible, if you buy a droid without a contract, to only use pay as you go minutes/texting? Or will I be forced to spend $50+ a month on plans I don't need?

you will be forced to spend $100 a month (assuming you are not on a family plan or get some discount). gotta have a plan and data package.

you CAN get the phone without a contract, but you have to have service on it to activate it ( i think ) ...

Hmm... If that's the case I guess I'll have to get an iTouch and just stick with my current phone. Carrying both will be annoying, though. =(

Ah well, thanks anyway.
