Another question: my dad has 2 phones on his account that have a upgrade ready. If he upgrades to the droid bionic and then transfer it to me does my account still keep the unlimited data plan?

yes. I did this with my Incredible last year replacing my Droid 1.

All they do is use the upgrade on that line.

ok when my dad gets the droid bionic do I go into my account and click on activate/switch device, enter the number on the back of device and it will take out my HTC Thunderbolt and put the droid bionic in its place or I got to call verizon to switch it and can go trade in the thunderbolt for some cash?

You don't need to log in at all. Just move your sim card over and you're done.

If I trade in my Thunderbolt to Best Buy(they are giving me the best offer among verizon/ebay) do I have to give the sim card with the phone?
