Hi there,

I am looking to buy this phone for my mom who has verizon and was curious if she needs to upgrade her phone from a basic phone but she is not eligible to upgrade. She probably would use the usb to transfer videos and photos to her computer. I am a long time ATT customer and dont' know much about the droid phones. She probably would upgrade her plan but didnt know if she could activate without upgrading her plan at the moment.

She shouldn't have to do anything to change her actual plan but she will have to add the cost of a data package. I am not 100% on the costs but I believe it is around $30 a month for the lowest data package.

Once she activates the Inc, a data plan will automatically be added to her line.

And $29.99/mo is the lowest for a smartphone dataplan, no exceptions.
