Droid Explorer - 0.8.5.0 [05/23/2010] - Mustang Edition

Installed the X64 version for my Windows 7 computer. Install went smooth and the program opens just fine.

However, it does not see my Motorola Droid. Whatever it did during the installation now has disabled my Droid from being viewable in the normal Windows Explorer like it used to be.

When I run the "adb devices" command, I get nothing in the list. I did enable USB debugging already.

What did I do wrong?

I had to go in and flip the drivers from the Android one to the USB Composite device one.

What do you mean? Can you explain how you get it to work again, step by step?

I have the moto usb drivers 4.5.0 and 4.6.0 downloaded, i tried both.

I was going to ask, if you installed the drivers. I have heard that installing the drivers if your device is not one of the HTC devices could make it so your device is not seen by adb.

Could you post the steps needed so I can update the docs on what to do if this happens?

Yeah please post the steps so I can fix my phone and adb, I should of known better not install DE.

EDIT: I tried reinstalling the moto drivers. does nothing but charge my phone, adb still isn't recognized...I cant mount my phone eather now.

It has nothing to do with DE, it the android USB drivers

im just saying before i installed DE, my phone mounted and ADB worked, now they dont. right after installation, they both stopped working. coincidence or not, just saying.

click "Manage"
select "Device Manager"
expand "Android Phone"
right-click whatever is listed
click "Update Driver Software"
click "Browse my computer for driver software"
click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
select "Mot Composite ABD Interface"
click "Next"

you should be done or close to (click finish or close or whatever)

Scratch that. I forgot, I unrooted my phone to try a new SBF. I'm sure this will work fine once I get rooted again.

Droid Explorer installed perfectly fine and is recognizing my Droid but, when I attempt to drag a file into my system>apps folder it seems to load in, but never winds up copying.

I am specifically trying to put a different launcher.apk in the folder. I have 79 items in the system>apps folder and after dragging the other launcher.apk into the apps folder everything reloads as normal and I wind up with 79 items again and the new .apk is not in there.

I have tried running with and without God Mode. Any suggestions???

Yes, by default the system partition is readonly, droid explorer does not yet automatically change this. You will have to manually do a mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/<block> /system to make it read/write. this is something that will be changing in the near feature, when droid explorer starts using the Managed Android Debug Bridge.

Thanks for this thread and this program, just what I was looking for. When I get to the "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" I have these choices:
Android ADB Interface
USB Composite Device

Did I miss something in the DE install of do I need to uninstall these drivers and reinstall DE. Trying to run this on Win 7 Pro.
