Droid Earpiece Crackling / Clicking Sound

I hear this faint clicking sound coming from the earpiece whenever I'm on a phone call. I can hear the other person well enough, but the sound is rather obnoxious. It doesn't happen on every call (for a while I thought it was only when I was listening with my left ear, but that didn't turn out to be the case).

It's been like this for a while, and I've just ignored it b/c I don't make a ton of phone calls. However, since the warranty is up in about 2 months, I'd like to get this addressed since I'm going to have this phone for another yr.

Has anyone else had this issue / have any suggestions?

Are you hitting a wedding ring on the backside of the droid while moving around or walking? Or is the screen protecting the earpiece loose? Outside of that? Good luck and update us on what the provider says.
