Droid backlight not staying on

I am asking for my dad who has the origional Droid. His backlight is not staying on to make a call or other things. The setting is set for 2 minutes but its not staying lit for even 10 seconds. It is only a yr old.

Any ideas?

There _might_ be another setting that he has made and/or missed. Or it could be hardware related and if his phone is just over a year old, he might be SOL.

Ultimately it is MUCH better for all involved if the owner of the phone signs up here and then asks for help here. The reason being is that sometimes things can get so technical here, the questions and answers will NOT survive the "he said" process.
