Droid 3 screen

What are your opinions on the pentile display?
I know I'll have to check one out first-hand to get a true feel for it, but I'm curious as to what other people think of it.
I got really excited when I first heard about the qHD, and then all this pentile talk has gotten me worried lol.

There are some odd moments where you notice some jagged edges (the dual core boot screen) but all in al, the screen is awesome.

It is definitely not the retina display of an Iphone or the IPS display of the Nook Color. Dark backgrounds and colored text have a fuzzy "screen door" quality to them in smaller font sizes. Also, when switching from one page of Apps to the other, the text and icons get flickery and fuzzy during the "3d transition", but get clear again once the "transition" is over.

I just spent some time studying the screen. The pixies are noticeable if you look closely at the screen under certain circumstances. Still, if one of my kids complained about something like that, I'd have to thump 'em. I simply can't imagine the circumstances in which the pentile screen would be a problem.

I'm not trying to justify my choice of phones. I knew going in that I'd probably get a Bionic when it comes out as I have another upgrade available. Would I rather have a super Amoled + like the SG SII? Yeah I sure would. Would I trade Motorola build quality for Samsung build quality to get the better screen? No way. I'll never own another Samsung unless they change their build philosophy.

Motorola Droid 3 has world-class build quality and a solid screen. Pentile is neither a selling point nor a detractor in my opinion.

Now the keyboard, on the other hand.... <3

Compared side by side this screen is a big improvement over my d1.

I have to agree after doing this myself. The "pentile" screen is a non-issue for me and find those that declare "Pentile" = FAIL to be utterly retarded and a lame attempt at trying to sound knowledgable.

The penile screen is something I was not sure of before reading what everyone is saying about it. Now I have a DROID x and I was wandering if any one had a DROID x and got the d3 and has compared the screens. I guess my question is is it a better screen as to the colors and touch sensitivity. If I get one I would be paying full pop. Can't wait until next july for an upgrade.

Yeah, the screen isn't a deal breaker... I loooove the keyboard on this thing. Greatest keyboard ever. Someone should write a rock ballad about it.

If your worried about the screen, don't be. The rest of the phone is pretty sweet, especially the keyboard. If you want to go tit-for-tat kinda deal, then yeah you can notice some differences between the D1's screen and D3. All in all, no biggie, definitely liveable. Personally, the D1's screen was better, the D3 does show some instances of "mesh" on certain images, notably the battery, but you reallllllly gotta be looking for it.
