Droid 3 NFC?

Looking into buying a D3 but i want to make sure its future proof, (dual core, hi-Res display, better keyboard) but i haven't found anything that has said that it has an NFC chip inside it, which is something I know I would use for google wallet. So, does it have it?

No phone or any type of electronic is Future proof,
Not even sure what this NFC chipset you're talking about is

NFC = Near Field Communication . It essentially allows for the quick transfer of information through touch or close proximity. It can be used for several things, but one of the main uses that it's being touted for with phones is making payments.

I don't think there's a single device announced with a NFC chip/standards yet, so your answer is most likely no.

There's rumor that Google/Apple are looking to use it, but nothing concrete yet.

Actually the Nexus S has a NFC chip. but the Droid 3 does not.

That's a damn shame. Looks like I'll be waiting for the Nexus Prime, and its 720p hi Res display, Ice Cream San which, and NFC goodness.

That is IF verizon even gets the Nexus Prime, and that's a big IF.

Personally i dont know any place i can use a NFC chip.

From the 3 or 4 hours i have spent playing with it, i really like it. Its fast and smooth no lag, none that i notice but there is a ton or bloatware. The camera is awesome and so is the screen. The keyboard is a welcome improvement over both the D1 and D2 keyboard.
And you got to love the fact that it has a 4" screen.

I know.its a gamble. How is the Droid 3 as a phone? Is it pretty solid or is there still some bugs to fix?
For some people, battery sucks. So there might be a fix for that. Otherwise, it's overall great. Once this thing is rooted.. oh boy!

some people complain about the screen, but I'm gonna say I'll stand behind moto's decision to give this thing a screen fit for a phone instead of a multimedia device. ie, better battery life and readable in the sunlight.

Don't get me wrong, its a mighty fine screen for consuming media, but I don't think its going to win awards over iphone etc. But when I want to watch movies etc, I'll break out the nook color.

but I wouldn't bank on a phone for NFC for at least another year or two, and probably even further. People are going to be very wary of a technology that can mess with their money.

In terms of battery, I've lasted almost two days without a charge and I'm at 20%. The battery and phone appear to require some bonding time for a few charges before things level out.
