where would i go about finding the best way to root my droid
and easyest if possible
when i first got my droid of course my dad and sister had to get a droid also
i just wanna have the best droid around here lol

and how long did it take u to do that
and then what happens after you root you gotta install a new rom?

i herd u can get any app for free when u root

once I read through the whole thread and was confident i understood the procedure, and any possible problems that might occur, it didnt take very long to actually do it. maybe 15 minutes. you dont have to change the rom if you dont want to. all I have done so far after rooting was overclock it a bit. still kinda new to this stuff myself. as for the free apps when rooted, never heard of that...

if this is done the right way will i loose all my stuff pictures contacts
and after iam done do i still need to keep all the zip files on my sd card

You won't lose anything. All your apps, contacts, pictures, music, everything will be fine. All this procedure will do is replace you stock recovery with sprecovery, install busybox, and give you root acces. Its really pretty easy. Just read it carefully and follow every step as it is written. Make sure you understand it before you try it.
