download directly to ext SD card?

Sorry if this is double post.... Searched but didn't see it. Is it possible to set to download (pics for example) directly to SD card? Tried to set a new file and set path but I didn't work. Galaxy S4 stock, non rooted.

Thanks all!

What exactly do you mean by "download"? And if you mean "save", for which app?

For example.... Save a pic sent on twitter... Or an mms from messaging app or like GoSMS..

This is likely to be an app-specific setting. For my email app (AquaMail), that is one of the settings, which it calls it "Folder for Attachments". It can also be changed on the fly. For that app, it's easy to set it up to save to a folder on the SD card.

You will have to go into each app to see if it is allowed and, if so, how to specify the folder.
