Double notifications?

One day out of nowhere my phone started giving two notification rings for every notification I got. I've tried switching the tone and looked everywhere in the settings but I can't find anything!

Please help!

Yeah, sounds like you downloaded an app, but didn't disable the stock applications' notifications settings. Did it myself, made the same posting..then fixed it.

ok im confused... Whenever someone sends me a text, sometimes it will ring 2 or 3 times instead of just once. also, since i update to 2.2, my text inbox is all fcked up. new messages show up out of place and doesnt even notify me at times that i do have a new message. Im pissed.

I just turned off my text notifications/sounds and downloaded the app handcent to handle my text messages and everything works fine now
