does anyone foresee any issues with "alternative" wifi tethering?

Currently, I'm a HEAVY user of wifi tethering through my rooted droid.

Does anyone foresee any problems doing this with the Droid x? I'm thinking in a few weeks, Droidmod (or someone) will release a root solution, and then I install wifi tethering and off I go without the $20/month charge or 2gb limit? Or am I expecting too much?

You are expecting too much of the root date. May be quick, may be months.

You're perfectly spot on.. i just threw out the date.. I agree, i have no clue when that may be..

I guess what I'm wondering is... this is the first droid that verizon is selling a tethering plan and has built in mechanisms to differentiated tethered data from regular data.. hardware wise, is it too much to expect the Droid X to be just like any other droid..allowing one to use their own unmetered (and hopefully undetectable) tethering solution?

Of course, someone on the other side will probably wonder why my droid spends so much time downloading stuff on the iTunes iPad app store :)
