Did Froyo fix the low speaker volume bug?

I know that earlier in the summer Motorola stated that the low speaker was a "known bug" and was going to be addressed in an update. But it wasn't mentioned in the list of fixed in the official VZW .pdf.

So, anybody who's done the 2.2 update, can you say yes or no whether there's a noticible change in volume of ringtones, etc?

I think they did fix it. I was watching a youtube video after I got the 2.2 update and it did sound a lot louder then before. I have yet to try it with music but I will be doing that this afternoon as I have to drive downtown and will get back to you.

Nice, much appreciated. Yeah, I'd be curious too if music/videos on the SD card have benefited as well. I'm hoping so.

It id Definitely louder.

I went from a brand new stock phone thinking "****, there's no way this will wake me up when I get an email", to not having any concern about it after the first release of the OTA leak. It's hard to say how much louder ringtones are, but they're most certainly louder.

I don't think there was an improvement. I was worried when I noticed this wasn't addressed on the update page. It was my #1 thing I was excited about the OTA update for.

Its really hard to tell unless you probably have a 2.1 versus 2.2 version to compare to.

I will say this, it may be louder... But, it is not a night & day difference. I want to say it is the same and it my mind tricking me into thinking it is louder because it should be louder.

I've played with multiple media options. Movies in gallery, songs in music, alarms, ring tones, and other notifications. Ringstones, notifications, etc. Seem to be about the same... While Songs in music and Movies in gallery seem slightly louder.. But they're also not what I am used to.

I honestly don't think there was an improvement.

But than again, I was hoping for a night/day difference.

I don't think they fixed Jack S___T! There is absolutely no difference in volume. I still have to hold the phone up to my ear when its on speaker phone. Almost didn't wake up this morning with the supposed Alarm. The volume output on this is not even remotely close to that of my wifes Droid 1. I don't know if the speaker is just smaller and not as powerful as the original Droid but it definitely sucks. I would think if this was Moto's multimedia powerhouse, they would at least make it so you could hear the freakin sound. Sorry, got a little carried away.

I have no experience with the Droid X volume issue, but I might be able to add some info to the issue.

My Droid 1 is having problems. Verizon sent me 2 junk Certified Like New Replacement Droid 1's. Finally a manager offered to replace my Droid 1 with a Droid X.

She said I would have to wait until September 27th for it to be shipped because the X is currently on back order. She said that "it will be good to wait because the new shipment will have an improved speaker to correct an issue we've been having with that model".

I knew nothing about this volume issue on the X, and she just said "speaker". I'm guessing Motorola has made some manufacturing changes to correct this problem.

That's just my guess based on one conversation with a manager. I didn't even think about what she said until I started reading the Droid X forum and found the volume issue mentioned several times.
