Dude, 5 bucks a month extra and you'd only be paying $80 for a brand new one...I NEVER buy new electronics without getting some kind of insurance or extended warranty, it is SO worth it...sorry to be all "I told you so," but..well...I told you so. What'd she smash it with just out of curiousity? What were you guys fighting about?

Or, you'd be paying $80 for a refurb.

I'm 24 years old, and have been buying electronics on my own since I was 12, and I've never purchased an extended warranty. I could do the math and go back and see how much money I've saved, but I'd feel bad rubbing it in your face.

People are different, and there's no blanket correct answer to anything involving electronics....

Yea same, never bought insurance, never needed it, when my voyager broke 3 times, glass after I sat on it then dropped it.. anyways.. I took it to a store each time and paid $50 and got a refurb, 1st 2 times I didnt pay anything but that may have been under the warranty.. but it is an individual decision, if you feel better with it, get it. Some peoples lifestyles are different and they may do things that puts extra risk to their phone, ie: certain jobs, activities etc etc.. so its whatever you feel better with

Second of all, maybe my initial post wasn't clear. I do NOT have a problem with the 2 year contract. I just wanted to know if that $99 price with a 2 year contract is for existing VZW customers, or am, I going to get another price shoved in my face when I walk into Best Buy tomorrow.

lol, I'm not married. Hell, theme her Droid in a Black Sabbath theme, whatever turns her on, just get her the same phone so she can get addicted too. It's either that or upgrade to Wife 2.0.

man that does suck... Maybe its the uber geek (as my wife calls me) inside but have you tried putting it back together? I mean it looks like the screen isn't cracked... If your just gonna toss it post it to me and I'll see if I can get it working I am pretty handy with a soldering iron and I've been taking apart stuff since I was like 4... dad was pissed when the beta max player wouldn't work anymore or the home stereo it was "hi-fi" lol!
