Contact list

I'm new to the phone, but am good with computers.. which is why i ask..

Is there a way to export my contact list to say.. excel. and clean it up.. and then port it back to the phone?

You can export it from gmail.

And then i can delete all my current contacts after i modify the file, and re-import it?
