"Connection error" when opening email attachment

Have had droid for almost two months and was opening attachments fine. Many attachments now are not opening and I get a "connection error" message." The phone doesn't get stuck or frozen or anything, I just click to open and I get the fleeting message. Normally, when I open an attachment, I have an option to choose whether to open it with Documents to Go or not. I don't even get that option, just a connection error. Wifi is off, all other systems running smoothly.

help me please, I just got the 'connection error' message trying to open a simple pdf from my corporate email and it used to work fine.

sometimes it happens. try a reboot and see if that clears your issue. i've had it happen with the market and the browser. it's almost as if the OS gets tired or something. although, i haven't done it nearly as frequent since moving to 2.0.1 (which you're probably already on).

Thanks for responding. Rebooting did not help, although forwarding to gmail does. Is this intentional? I mean, people are now beginning to figure out Google's strategy of getting us to rely on them for EVERYTHING. Now I even have to forward all my emails to Gmail to open attachments on a phone run by a Google OS? C'mon Google, don't turn into Microsoft ffs.

what kind of attachment? is it possible it was too large? are you sure that the gmail app knew what to do with it? you have to have an application that can handle what has been attached to the email.

I get the "connection error" when trying to open incoming attachments via my corporate exchange e-mail which uses Outlook 2007. Definitely not too large, just a one-page PDF letter. I can't open any attachment coming from my Outlook exchange server. But if I forward them to Gmail, no problem.

Something this important should be fixed before release. Since it wasn't, fixing this bug should be a priority, but it apparently isn't. Google seems quite content to require people to forward everything to Gmail in order to open an attachment.

Edit: hmm, perhaps I may be a bit of a conspiracy theorist. My Gmail forwards to my Yahoo mail which also opens the attachment. So the problem is with Outlook exchange email.

actually i think it has to do with corporate email and ithink this is a known issue...

I have same issue as jpc1 i was able to open attachments for 2 months now i just get connection error wtf!!!
