My "Gmail" app works fine for my main personal email address. But I recently set up Google business apps and now have a separate email for work. I set up the android "Email" app with this new account following the instructions for IMAP settings. I can send and receive email no problem with this account, but I cannot set my "Email check frequency" for anything shorter than 5 minutes. I was hoping for some sort of "As soon as they arrive" option to get them instantly.

the stock email app will only pull every 5 minutes. The only way that i know of to have them immediately is to add them to your gmail account and then you can send and receive them using your gmail account but it will appear as your using the work account.

The app doesn't push -- the server does.

Why aren't you setting up the Google Apps account via the gmail app if you want push? The gmail app can support multiple accounts.
