Can The Droid Retrieve Apple Email Accounts

I'm pretty sure there's a way to hook up the Droid to retrieve email from a MAC .Me account without going to the Apple website.

I was able to set up my Mac.com account in seconds. I now have 2 gmail accounts and my .mac/mobile me account on the Droid and they work seamlessly!

I have tried this two different ways.

The first time I just went to email and selected Add Account. I typed in my mac email and password and BAM all of my emails were there BUT shortly after the phone gave an error that email had to shut down and I had to force quit.

I then tried setting it up manually using the MobileMe IMAP settings.

The ingoing settings were accepted but outgoing were not.

I would also appreciate any details on getting MacMail on my droid!

I wondering if there's a forward address which can be set on MobileMe, just forward a Mac address to my gmail account.

Okay, here's what I did:

Email (on home screen)
Menu > Add account
type in email address and password
manual setup
incoming imap server: mail.mac.com
outgoing server: smtp.mac.com
type in username/password

Worked like a charm for me!

Let me ask you this... does the DROID retrieve emails as they come in, or do you have to manually click on the Mac email account to retrieve them to the DROID.

On my DARE i had to click on My Mac address to sign in, and then my emails would be retrieved.

I don't have to do anything manually. It automatically syncs with my mac mail account.

OK I tried again and got this:

The application Email (process com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

Then I must click "Force Close"

Hmmm.... I don't know what I did other than enter my email address and password... the Droid did the rest and it's working flawlessly.... sorry. I'll keep looking for an answer.

I tried that way as well-just email and pass and it did the rest...same issue.

I deleted BIG emails from my mac account thinking they were big.

Now it hangs loading them.

I am close! just not there yet.

Ohhhhhhhhh I have a solution-it is not flawless but I jut tested it and it works.

In Mac Mail, you CAN set up a rule to redirect mail to any address.

Go to preferences and rules

Select If "ALL"of the following conditions are met

then Select

"Account" and fill in your mac mail

the for perform the following actions

Select

"Redirect" and type in your gmail addess.

It goes to gmail.

The only flaw is you will get double emails on your computer-both gmail and mac if set up that way-BUT it works.
