Can screen lag be fixed with an update?

I noticed it before but now I notice even more when comparing to an iphone that the Droid Eris has a slight screen lag. It's definitely not as responsive as an iphone. Sometimes when you press a command it freezes for a second then does what you tell it to, which is very annoying. Can this be fixed with an update or are there any plans to fix it? Surely I'm not the only one who has noticed this...

It's purely a software issue. HTC and Apple optimize their software while we all run standard android builds. Try upgrading to an ERE25 or ESE53 build of Bugless Beast or any other 2.1 rom. You will definitely notice a difference in responsiveness.
