When you first pair the phone, the status bar at the top of the screen will open and ask "Do you want to allow access to your phonebook" or something to that effect. When you say "Yes" it should send your phonebook.
The only problem I found was that my Droid Pro would not stay paired to the car and one person suggested that I answer the above question "No" and the contacts would be transferred anyway and it would stay paired. I never got a chance to try that and sent it back to Verizon.
