Can anyone help me with some advice. I want to create an App that is loaded and then left running while other apps are loaded. I then want it to monitor what is output to the smartphone screen and when it recognises a particular pattern or logo being displayed to do something?

Is this possible ?
Anyone know how to do - hopefully with javascript?

JavaScript?? Ugh no. You're looking at a lot of Java. You'd also need your app to render screen images and I'm not aware of anything that can do that.

Ok fair enough - but is it possible? Can a background service maybe intercept the screen frame memory and interrogate it?

Seems to me the amount of resources this would consume seems very high. I can't think of a feasible way of doing this.

I feel like Miller would know better than me, but I have to agree. Seems like such an app would drain the battery super quick and slow everything down.

Can we ask why you'd want an app to do such a thing? Because we here at Droid Forums don't condone spying and it seems like this idea might be geared that way.

Thanks for your input. No not spying at all - can't say too much but it's related to linking Ad's to pictures, in a similar way that Youtube currently allows.
