OKAY, my Car Navigation has disappeared.
Um.... this is kinda scaring me.

Thats becasue you didn't read through the menu (or this thread) when you installed the ROM. The final step of installation gives you the option to install a few cunstom options (2.1 browser etc.) and then the next menu asks which ones you want to remove.

You never unchecked it. Reload the root app and pay attention. There is a further in depth explination by Camel earlier on in this thread

Nah, I just forgot because I was reflashing so many times trying to get certain things to be less buggy.

I can see where that could be a problem

Sorry to jump to conclusions man

Finaly got through this entire thread. Whew. Couple quick questions:

1) I've seen some talk of a underclock option when the phone is in standby/sleep mode/whatever you want to call it. For instance 600 for when in use and 250 or 125 when the screen is off which conserves battery life. Is this included in 1.2, will it be in 2.0 or does it require the secondary app that controls CPU speed to set this up?

2) I've heard some negative things about the 2.1 home screen or launcher or whatever it's called so I'm more than happy with going with the 2.0.1 version until the official 2.1 OTA update is sent so that sholes can add it to the app update. The question is I read that we can have the 2.0.1 version WITH 5 home screens. This is perfect for me and I'm wondering if we need to do anuything during install to get 5 home screens on 2.0.1 or if you add them after install or if you simply drag items to create the new screens?

3) Will this affect my apps or will they still update just as they do now? I read somewhere where rooting might make apps not update automagically like they do w/o root.

4) I assume I will have to redo my home screens with portrait widgets and what not once this is complete, correct?

5) When 2.1 finally comes OTA from Verizon can anyone w/Sholes comment on how quickly this will be ported for an app update for those of us who bought this app?

There were more but the rest slipped my memory as I read through the 49 pages...30 or so since I left for lunch. EEsh.

I turned on GPS in settings. Is that what you're referring to?

it's not giving me that option. Any other ideas? I NEED HELP!!!!

what is it doing when you click on the map app.

here is where i messed up.
1) i forgot to turn on the nav i normally have it off to save battery
2) after i turned it on it found my location but sent me to the market to install the voice sythesis app.

yup, did that fix the problem for you

Youtube is working well, I just did this a few hours ago and only flashed it once. I have the hq hack enabled and youtube functions just fine so far...weird.

Yeah it's definitely weird, I'm done re-flashing (count 15 times). Youtube still unstable, right now it's playing HD content well but crashes on poor quality conent. Last flash it was the opposite, couldn't play HD content without crashing but played poor quality just fine... not sure other than hoping that the 2.0 update with fix that.
/shrug.

1) set cpu and 2.0 will have more options
2) 5 screens as long as u are in launcher, and the negatives are minor issues that are either user error or require a reset. I hhave not had the time to solve the wifi issue completely yet
3) when it ask you to wipe or sav, click save and your apps will be fine
4) for the most part yeah but its worth it
5) im saving that for camel

Wow this is amazing. I read everything here before i bought the app and did everything. Thanks a ton sholes.info!

i've had a few problems too though.
1. Couple of random reboots
2. Wifi tether not being seen by my comp.
3. youtube crashes my Droid and reboots it EVERY time.

gunna try reflashing now... heres hoping that fixes the problems.

I recant all my statements about setcpu not working with this ROM clearly it does.

Clearly

LOL

I am very pleased with this ROM, and this program.

The only reason i was hesitant to root was all those damn steps and commands. It is overwhelming. I am no noob to the droid, computers, or code, yet i didn't want to damage my device. I am pleasently suprised by this little find...

So, I just bought the app, and did the steps to root my phone, but once it rebooted All the Sholesmod Updater does is sit there with a black screen and eventually tells me it's not responding and has to force close. What did I do wrong?

Wifi can be fixed by opening the wifi program, closing it, and do a reboot. This should solve your problems

As for youtube, if you selced HQ youtube, then anything other then the HQ videos seems to give you problems. Try disabling that and you should be good to go

1) This was meant more for people who had 2.0 before this or Sholes who know for sure.
2) What does this mean as long as I'm in launcher? I'm talking about the differences between 2.0.1 and 2.1 since we can specify which home option (launcher?) we want to install as part of the root process.
3) I realize saving will save my apps as they are but meant more for when these individual apps come out with updates. Will they individually update just as they do now? Launching the market and updating them? I assume yes but read something someone said about one of the other root methods that didn't allow for updates w/o jumping through some hoops.
4) Figured as much. I have lots of shortcuts and images that are a little more difficult to find and crop and what not than just apps/icons.
5) If it's anything like the last big OTA Verizon update it will be made available prior to OTA and those who are brave enough can install it themselves. I did w/v2.0.1 and had it a few days prior to OTA and it was a breeze. If this is the case then those who do this option could potentially have the 2.1 update via OTA prior to those waiting for the Verizon OTA update.

did that actually work for you because my computer still not detecting it neither one

Nothing, reopen the program. If that doesnt fix it, the uninstall reinstall and try again, should work
