Alright, I think it will be time to make the plunge.

I'm going to the Marquette basketball game right now, but when I get back, I'm rooting this baby.

Thanks for all the helpful discussion, guys.

One suggestion...

Take a link to the download, the simplified list of steps that was posted earlier, add in the extra step from the developer (about clicking the home screen so people don't wait 30+ min), copy and paste the answers to a few of the FAQs (Car Home, etc.) and put them all in the front page or a separate, stickied thread from the discussion. It'll probably save a lot of hassle for people that are just jumping into this life myself, as well as those who have thanklessly answered lots of redundant questions. I managed to read the entire thing, but I would imagine others might not be as willing to do it without explicit directions housed in a single post.

Otherwise, awesome, awesome work. I'll let everyone know how it goes for me after the game.

okay so sorry to be slightly retarded, I downloaded the ROM and everything is fine, however I absentmindedly checked the default home launcher and now everything launches from 2.01 instead of the Sholes 2.1, where do I go to reset this default?

thanks.

Open the Settings app and go to Applications. Find the home app you set to be the default, and press the 'clear defaults' button in its detail view.

If you reinstall the ROM and remove the home screen you dont want, that will also fix it.

I have the 2.1 laucnher set as default, but I'm not digging the bugginess in landscape. However, I'm not finding it in my list of applications...I go to setting, apps, manage apps and I don't see the launcher app so I can go clear the default. Any ideas?

When you go to apps-manage apps hit menu-filter and select all.

Thas is actually a good idea, if a thread can get started thats not flooded with 500 posts for someone to sift through. Just be a one or 2 post thread maybe started by an admin or mod of the basics to get the app installed step by step including info about the car home and stuff, just a thought.

I just noticed if the phone is in the dock and it is left alone. There is a screen saver.. this is awesome.. its a floating time...

For those that want to know more about the features of the new 2.1 apps you should glance through this thread http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-general-discussions/12239-new-apps-2-1-a.html . This will help keep this thread more on topic and not dilute the fantastic work the guys from Sholes have done with this "Rooter app".

So Im diluting this thread by having observations?

It's just because that is a feature of DeskClock from 2.1, not something that Sholes actually added themselves. All the features from DeskClock have been discussed where he linked. I don't think he means anything towards you. :)

I tried to get the overclock app that is suggested. I could not get it to overclock past 600. When i looked at the devs website it said that overclock app is not cpmatable with sholes... Yet the Sholes root app recommends it... Am i doing somthing wrong?

Ok.. I understand its a feature in 2.1 I just didnt know this rom had it in it. This rom is not complete 2.1 so I was unaware of this feature sorry for the confusion.. will not happen again :)

600 is the max until they send the update

Hey guys!

Lets keep this thread friendly and on topic if possible. I have contacted the developer about him creating a thread that I will sticky. Until then let's keep this thread useful. Thanks

I purchased this just to support the guys at sholes.info for what they do. I had no intention of using the sholes rom but I decided try it since i backed everything up already anyways and so far I'm impressed. Def worth the $5 spent
