App that roots/OCs/multi-touches and tethers for $5

Hey guys,
Spent the last half hour reading through the 40ish pages here, broke down and bought the app, and proceeded to (attempt) root.
It has gone perfectly until the part that has me download the 1.2 rom, it downloads, but after that all i see is a page of white text on black background . The phone is still responsive, scolls through the text, turns off/on. I hit home, and tried again, to the same result.

Any ideas?

Thanks.:)

I think my thread got lost flurry of posts this thread has been (which is good lol), but I figured I post the solution to my problem in case anyone else has it.

I tried to download the 2.1 rom again, and this time I read some of the tiny print on the screen, and discovered that apparentally the download was timing out. So i switched from ASU's wifi to 3g, and the download turtled to a finish.

I tried to get the overclock app that is suggested. I could not get it to overclock past 600. When i looked at the devs website it said that overclock app is not cpmatable with sholes... Yet the Sholes root app recommends it... Am i doing somthing wrong?

600 is the max until they send the update

Thanks for making it all big and bold, dont know if i would have gotten it otherwise

my bad bro i was meaning to actually underline i was typing on the forum an d playing on my phone, no offense meant by that

im playing around with wireless tethering. Have any one figured out how to get it to where your computer see the signal I clicked tether but when I click on available wireless coneections I am not getting the androidtether (the name of the network)
i havent' gotten mine to work either..

Dont sweat it bro,

I was being sarcastic and serious at the same time. With the rate of growth of this thread, i don't know if i would have seen it. lol. But thanks for the information!

pretty cool so far, but 3 major issues:

1. YouTube barely works now, if it does there is no sound and it force closes after 3 or 4 seconds.

2. Wifi tether is not detected by any of my computers or my ipod touch.

3. landscape mode bugginess for the launcher.

I really like having the apps and the slight overclock, but without youtube, I'm considering going back to stock...

Can you please post the exception? You can restart the activity by pressing the back button and relaunching the app. Pressing home just backgrounds it.

Interesting, I've been testing youtube myself and have found it's working great, especially since it automatically loads high quality now. Perhaps re-flashing might help that.

ill post that here:

-OPTIMIZATION (all APKs and JARs in /system are fully optimized, to provide vast speed improvements) (UPDATED 01/16/10: Reverted to unoptimized framework-res.apk to eliminate random reboots (this version has a transparent background in the notification window)
-UPDATED 01/25/10: Completely deodexed system. EVERY apk and jar (except core.jar in /system/framework because it can't be deodexed) is deodexed to allow for easy installation of any system apps you might want to install. This also allows for easy changing of certain things such as the clock color (from black to white, or vice versa) and even the lock screen (bringing back the original 2.0 lock screen is planned for a future version).
-2.1 Keyboard which includes Voice Dictation (ported by Berzerker)

-Minimum Brightness hack (includes app to edit brightness levels (credit to xeudous and jinx10000) (UPDATED 01/25/10: Added new services.jar to bring the brightness hack to the manual slider (all the way down is 2 brightness))
-YouTube HQ default hack
-WiFi-Tethering (additional setup required, instructions provided) (UPDATED 01/12/10: Easier to use now)
-Ability to remove potentially unwanted apps.
-UPDATED 01/12/10: Added a new boot image developed by trevorj of the sholes.info team, it includes compcache (which adds 65MB of swap space), and the ability to clock the processor to a stock of 600MHz. All in all, you should see vast improvements in performance with this. (UPDATED 01/16/10: Updated compcache to 0.6) UPDATED 01/25/10: Compcache is disabled by default, should be faster without it. Also, no need for kmods.squashfs in /system anymore, everything is in the boot image now.
-UPDATED 01/12/10: Fixed Voice Search FC
-UPDATED 01/16/10: Added option to remove color from bash that was causing problems on Windows with adb.
-UPDATED 01/16/10: Added powertop. (Not for use on Windows (problem with colors)) [Info on powertop here.)
-***UPDATED 01/16/10:*** Manual brightness works!!!
-NO SWYPE KEYBOARD.
-UPDATED 01/25/10: Added libs for dropbear. (mostly works, but currently not complete, not supporting any issues at this time)
-UPDATED 01/25/10: Fixed Wi-Fi Tether. (Also, people who downloaded this before 11:15 AM GMT -5, on 01/25/10 should install again to get it actually working.

Okay, perhaps I spoke to soon, playing high quality content on youtube seems to go great, but when I play content that is natively low in quality it crashes my phone everytime.

No problems with youtube for me, and everything is in HQ...
