I was running through some updates and spotted the "intercept outgoing calls" permission on "My Verizon". It is my carrier so they obviously have access to my calls anyway, but man that is a scary sounding permission. :icon_eek:

I Googled the term and found references to it in some developer forums but was never able to really put it in a usable context.

Is it a big brother thing and most sheeple just agree to it? It's sounds just as bad as the damn Kinect that the kids got for Christmas. It has a camera and a microphone. Connect it to the net for online gaming and wammo, you have just given the world eyes and ears in your living room. Paranoid? Slightly!

What is it for and why the heck would I want to give someone permission to do it?

Google Voice and SIPDroid use it to send outgoing calls to their services rather than your carrier directly. I see nothing in My Verizon that would need that permission though.
