App bar on my home page

Hi, I turned on my phone this morning and the tool bar at the top was gone. I have moved it accidentally before but that is not the case this time. I think the verizon rep put it there or it came preinstalled. It is the one that has 4 buttons, one for screen brightness, satellite button, wifi and bluetooth buttons. It moves as one bar unlike one application icon, so I don't know where it went, what it is called. I'm sure it is still installed....I can work around it, but it was so handy. If anyone knows what I mean or if it has happened to you, can you please give me some advice. Thanks in advance for your help!!
