Anyone else having a 3G signal problem?

Thursday I noticed the "3G" icon was missing at the top of my phone. I was in Las Vegas. Ok, maybe there's a glitch of come kind. I head off for Reno via 95. I can usually access the web and my fave weather sites almost anywhere on that run. Not Thursday night. I was unable to get any of it, any time. I also can't download any videos that anyone sends me.

All day Friday it was out as well. I called my local Verizon store who hemmed and hawed but finally admitted that there was a problem but it was with Motorola and Google. Huh?

I just got up now, turned on the phone and it's STILL not working. I'm just wondering if this is a local thing (Nevada/California, or just Nevada) or are others experiencing this as well?

No problems where I live (N.E. Ohio) with 3G signal. I know inside a casino it's sometimes hard to get a signal but outside should be no problem.

Blaming Motorola or Google for the signal just doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, the Motorola/Google thing doesn't make any sense. I'm a truck driver, not a gambler, so I was miles from "the action" and sitting in a motel room, where it always works fine. And I live in Northern Nevada, so none of this can be blamed on huge casinos. I'm out in the wild blue nothingness all night long and normally experience only the usual occasional near-dead zones.

I live in Northern CA and last night intermittenly I couldn't get any 3G signal. None of my bookmarks worked because it said it could not find a network connection. I have noticed sometimes it goes from 3G to 1G, back and forth even when I am standing still. I wonder if that is normal?

I see the 3G drop to 1G quite often while cruising between Reno and Las Vegas, but I can usually get downloads, albeit slow. In Vegas and in the Reno area the signal is pretty consistently good. But right now I'm talking NO (as in "en - oh") signal at all. As of right now (7:30am) there is still no signal.

I'm going to hit the local Verizon store later and see what they have to say. At $1/day for that data stream I expect a refund for all the days I haven't been able to access it. It's up to a whopping $3 now! Hey, c'mon now, it's building up. :)

What they said at the Verizon store

Ok, I hit the local corporate Verizon store and presented my problem of no 3G access. In the end, they took the battery out, then re-installed the battery and VOILA, I had 3G service, sort of. The signal is weak and again they stated that there is a system wide problem with Google/Motorola, not Verizon. This problem is affecting ONLY android phones - on all systems (Verizon, T-Moble, etc).

This problem affects whether you can access the Market for apps, and sending and receiving vids and pix. Also, it affects whether you can access the web or not.

So, if you have any phone other than an Android powered phone, you have NO problems. Those of us with Droids (and maybe this is just in this part of the country, I'm not sure) are the only ones affected. They expect this problem to be corrected within 48 hours - or less, hopefully.

So, that's what they told me was my main problem. Re-installing the battery was just a quick fix which has little or no bearing on the main problem. I don't know - could be just the Razzle Dazzle... :icon_evil:

Please tell me this is not going to be like att blaming iphone and iphone blaming att.

I occasionally slip in and out of 3G sometimes and the internet will hang up or go to 1x. It usually won't last more than a minute but sometimes it will happen at the most inappropriate times. Like today when I was trying to tag a song with Shazam. :icon_eek:

Signal seems to be working now

To FakaNutz, I had a good signal last Friday night when I was in Las Vegas, but once I headed up 95 back toward Reno, it want away. Not sure exactly where but when I tried to check my weather map site (around Mercury or so), I got NOTHING. So it must not have been happening in Vegas proper.

So far, it seems to be working ok now. Hopefully it will be cleared up (whatever it is) by tomorrow night when I head out again.

Yeah, I hope this doesn't turn into some massive blame game. Frankly, I don't care WHO is at fault, just fix it. At a dollar extra per day, this outage stuff adds up - quickly.

I believe theres some definite truth in what you are saying. I've only been on trial for a few days but my phone has been acting nuts today.

I can't even make a call hardly. It drops to nothing as soon as I try to connect. BS.

I've been having insanely bad signal problems for weeks actually. My phone will constantly drop out of 3G, or just get no signal at all. It seems to be 'fixed' if I update the PRL but that only works for a short time and then its back to normal... ie horrible signal.

I'm also having dropped calls etc

If this is really a Google/Moto problem, that doesn't matter... Verizion is our contract holder THEY are responsible for getting the problem fixed, therefor if you're having signal issues and they try to pass the buck.. just be like:

"Oh ok, I get it so you ARE talking to Google and Moto about it right? AND you're also giving me free service until YOU work with them and get the problem solved right!?"

Who's fault it is really doesn't matter to us as customers, we're on a contract with Verizon, they sold us the phone, they are fully responsible for getting everything fixed.

1/2 time I go to use my phone I can't, and its driving me batty.

My phone goes into 1G sometimes, and at other times,I have neither 1G or 3G. The only way to get my 3G signal back is to turn the phone off and turn it back on.
