Back them up to SD so you have the ability to swap them when the time comes....hopefully sooner or later the app to allow AppsToSD is released so we can actually run them from it instead of swapping.

What's the best way to backup apps? And since one can always get them from market again is there really a reason to backup apps other than to swap them for more space?

Not sure there is a reason to back up to the SD card unless you think something may disappear from the Market (like Beautiful Widgets). Of course I'm sure someone will come up with a reason.
I've filled up the internal memory several times now. Can't wait for a developer to figure out how to install apps to the sd card. I had deleting excess apps, but I just tried Astro and backed everything up and uninstalled a few I don't use often. Thanks for the idea.

Download Astro file manager from the market. Hit the menu button on your Droid, choose tools, then choose Application Manager/Backup. Check the box on the right upper corner (if you want to back up ALL your apps, otherwise just go through the list and choose your apps one by one) and then choose Backup.
