Android wear update

I like the tap to get to apps. No need for a launcher now. And some of the aesthetics are a bit cleaner I think. Still need to play with it.

Anyone updated Maps since the firmware update? I saw it is now supposed to support AW so I was wondering how it has changed from the previous.
Tizen uses Here instead of Maps, though S Health on the watch uses Maps, and the S had it installed as bloatware. It's kinda cool for navigating but it's not standalone capable. There's a standalone app for Tizen available but it's got mixed reviews and is $3
Anyway I'm wondering if it does indeed give a full Maps experience on the watch now, including actual maps and other goodies. It's kinda cool, though hard on the eyes, to see where you're at on a map on your watch.

Any news on the firmware update? It's taking forever...
A bit out of topic but for whoever has the Moto 360: I just received my eBay metal band that cost 9 euros and while I would prefer the 24mm Monolink Metal Band Moto insists on not selling it separately...

I have small wrists and with this band the back crack won't be an issue because it folds completely and dosent stress the back part, has you can see in the last photo. I definitely recommend it.

I have not tried it yet with the new update. The few times I used Maps / Nav with the previous firmware it killed my watch battery in less than one hour. I mean 50 - 60% to < 10% with a simple 39 minute Nav session. So I blocked Maps on my watch and all good the one time I used Nav since then. Maybe time to try it again.

Is there a way to use Komoot with your watch? It's much more battery friendly than my Here watch/phone tether combination on my S.
I'm not sure whether the Maps update was about Nav or if it added more abilities to find places using the watch. That's why I'm asking for those who are on the fence about a watch and I'm trying to learn all I can to help them decide. My sister in law got a Fit because of mine and my brother and their kids are intrigued by smartwatches but not quite sold. The G for $50 at AT&T a few weeks back got them eye balling them. I see my brother getting a 360 when it drops to $99 or less but not now. That's why I ask the questions. I don't want him to go Tizen necessarily, but whatever will work best for him , including he was forced to switch his work phone to an iPhone so I'm looking at them too.

Just my two cents, but there are many other features that make the G Watch worth $50 right now even if Maps still doesn't work right. I will try to make some time and see how Maps works with the new update.

I'm guessing the G is gone since he said "a few weeks back". Crazy not to get one at the price if there's any interest at all.
I haven't seen the battery drain like that on mine, either, Sajo.
Although the one time I had it run for about an hour, 40 minutes of that was on one freeway...so not many notices sent to watch.

Even with Maps blocked in the AW App on my phone I can still open Maps on my watch in the new Apps Menu (double tap) and it zoomed right into my exact street location with options on the watch screen. The road names were easy enough to see. I zoomed out a little for this but you can see the menu options on the screen. Might be a cool new feature for those that want it.
