Check Settings > Sound & Display > Orientation

That box should control home screen auto-rotate.

Not sure if thats there in 2.0, but that is where it is on 1.6 -- please post your answer if you find it!

That screen doesn't auto rotate unless the keyboard is slid out..

however, the auto rotate does work other places except on home screen..

There must be a setting because that doesnt sound right.

You have to change that in the settings. Otherwise it will not switch to landscape on the homescreen. Do what Stigy suggested above.

Try turning Orientation on and see if your home screen rotates when rotating the device.

Okay then the home screen auto-rotate must be a feature on my rooted phone.

I think I remember it not doing this on stock 1.6, but not 100% sure.

So when the slider is closed. You can't rotate to landscape to use the virtual keyboard or the net?

I think he means just the home screens.

I think that is what he is saying...

EVERY application BESIDES the home screen auto-rotates with the phone, but he wants the home screen to do this as well.

I would hate if the home screen rotated, but that's just me...
