Apparently, it didn't take devs long to make good use of the downloaded .sdk for Android 4.1/Jelly Bean. There is already a Jelly Bean ROM available for both the Verizon and the GSM versions of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus! And, these things are 100% stable and practically bug-free!

Here are some instructions for getting setup quickly with these:

GSM Version-
  • Download the ROM
  • Do a full wipe
  • Flash the ROM via Clockwork Mod Recovery
  • You can flash a root fix and updated radio via CWM
  • You're done!
Verizon version- (LTE may stop working with this)
  • Download the ROM
  • Do a full wipe
  • Flash the ROM
  • Flash SuperSU.
  • You're done!
Thanks to all of our tipsters for sending this one in!

Here are some source links below to download them:

This is seriously awesome! I so wish I could be a developer. I tried programming, even in its simplest forms and just couldn't get the hang of it.

Anyone confirm that the LTE does work with the Verizon version? I'd love to get my hands on this but I can't go without 4G service.

here is a screenshot of jelly bean with a few tweaks from me

way better than ice cream in my opinion

verizon galaxy nexus 4.1

Don't even have ICS yet and y'all are teasing us normal users with jellybean. This isn't fair. :(

But it's good to see that Jellybean's not all fluff and is actually a marked improvement. If a Motorola Nexus phone ever gets released on Verizon, I'll likely be all over that and the awesome that's Jellybean.

Can someone post some Quandrant scores while running 4.1 vs. when they were running 4.0.4? I really want to see if "Project Butter" brings significant performance enhancements.

Read all of the posts by the users. It's pretty much unanimous that it's great regardless of what Quadrant says no?!

I know benchmarks don't tell the whole story, but a before-and-after comparison would yield some obvious data. I've read plenty of "omg input lag is gone!" posts already, so I just wanted some numbers. Thanks!

I flashed this and started playing around with it. Then when I tried to use ROM mgr or Clockwork it denied me access. I got a little nervous and shut it down. When it started backup I was still unlocked. But it still wouldn't grant me SU permissions. Had to use Wugs toolkit to get into recovery and flash my ICS backup. Anyone have this happen to them?
