I've been trying to figure out where everyone got this idea that tethering was going to be free, just because it was a phone feature, in the first place. Did I miss something or has it just been wishful thinking run wild?

Please remember people we are talking about Froyo here. Not about how to copy things on one browser to another. That's off topic and those topics will be deleted.

Thank you in advance. Please feel free to discuss this in the appropriate areas like General discussion or Droid Applications.

2 radio updates in the two updates...nice. Mine cant get any better tho. I pray it doesnt try to fix what isnt broke for me.

Why wouldn't it be?

How can Verizon charge people who use an unroot feature of Android yet people who root currently and in the future will be able to get away with tethering for free.

Doesn't make sense and people should be outraged if they do end up charging for it.

They can charge for it because rooted tethering IS against the rules. Theres no reason to be outraged imo but I do tend to agree that tethering should be included in the data plan.

They should. But Big corporations like VZ don't run there business off of whats fair.

I think it is in their best interest to allow it. Look at iphone, how many people jailbreak their phone because apple and at&t locked it up?

Once Verizon locks one thing up, there will be another and another and it will never end. I hope they make the right decision because I love their service and love my phone.

I know it is against the rules, but tethering for web access would be very difficult, if not impossible, to detect and that is all I want to use tethering for.

I say outraged because if they put a charge on it, rooters could still safely access web content tethering their laptop/etc and "honest"(dont flame me on that lol) customers cannot without paying more.

From what ive been told. Foyo's benchmarks on the Droid are astounding. It was compared to having a Snapdragon in the Droid fast.

Awesome!

Camers is great

Wait so they tweaked the camera again to try and get better imaging and focus? Can you go into any detail here?

and the radio band will be updated again.

Also awesome!

I can't get more detailed about the camera yet. I will as I can

As far as the radio band. Yes it is updated in froyo. From what I was told 4.1 is in it right now. That doesnt mean it will stay or go or change again. Just what's in the latest build.

First in Fooyo teathering is built in. We do not know how that will affect VZW or if it will be on the Droid when it releases. So let's be patient there

Second : When you have root and su permissions you can teather or just use a teather program. Those are a violation of your TOS. If you do it and get caught then VZW wiil and can bill you or cancel you and your service. Let's just leave it at that

Last : I agree I pay for full data access and want teathering to be included and allowed. Right now it isn't, but on the EVO there is an added charge to the customers bill for it.. If VZW and ATT watch Sprint on thier flagship device. Then I will bet there will be an added charge for this feature

As far as the teathering goes. I will be stunned if VZW allows it with out a secondary charge attached

Two days ago I have read in the Wall Street Journal that Verizon is planning to release two new phones from Motorola in July. So July is the hot day for the Android 2.2 since I would assume, the new phones will come equipped with the new OS.

That's why I think June will be the month for Droid 2.2 they'll roll it out before their two new devices just to keep their top of the line phone selection current with the latest OS.

Verizon was called and asked to add the cost of tethering to a current phone. The answer was, it can not be done so we can not charge for it. The customer service rep further stated she would not the account that the question was asked in case there was ever a problem over tethering. She stated, it can not be done on the droid, and if you can find an app that will let you, and it costs you, contact verizon and we will reimburse you for the app. So I am sure that once a phone comes out with tethering in the native build, they will and are planning to charge just as they do the blackberry package.
