Not sure if you guys have seen this yet, but Motorola has updated its list of planned Android updates to its phones. It doesn't say anything about 2.2 for Droid :-(

Motorola's Android 2.1 update plans

What does a chart showing the current state of Motorola phones related to 2.1 have to do with 2.2????? I don't understand people's thought processes here.

I would have thought they'd at least put Droid: 2.2 xx/xx/2010 or something... Who knows.

How many times do I have to point this out? Verizon doesn't care which phone you buy - they want you on the plan. They would just assume you buy a Droid as a new phone.

They dont MAKE the phone so they have no incentive to sell the new ones over the old ones.

Amen. The droid is still expensive. Its not like verizon will make more money on newer phones when the droid is the same price. Or even close. Everyone knows the droid is a tank.

Most of you still don't get it. Verizon doesn't make ANY money selling you phones. They make 100% on the plans.

That's why a new phone will NEVER hold back an update on an older phone.

Are you gunna buy a phone thats 7 monthes old in technology or a brand new one that come with the same plan?

Accualy, there arent many people who buy phones based on how new they are/ when they were released. If somebody likes a phone and it does everything it needs to do for them, they will buy it and be happy for 2 years. My friend just bought a samsung rogue which is i think 9 months old. Just saying.

Does that overheat the Droid? How badly does it decrease battery life?

How do you like your eggs?

Warm (like the Droid usually is) and my eggs don't usually have batteries...

I think that for the most part, people don't care about all the details that those like us care about. I see many people with Droids and the like and I be half of those people don't even know what they're really holding or what their phone can do. My mom still has this phone (http://www.6310i.co.uk/store/images/uploads/6310ichampagne.jpg) and she's perfectly happy with it bc it does what she needs - makes calls and sends a very occasional text message...

... Does that overheat the Droid? How badly does it decrease battery life?

I have etCPU set for 400/1200 and as I look at my phone the CPU temp from TempMon is 75F idling...

I have run this phone at 1.4/1.4 and ran stress test and it topped at 145F after 2 Min.

I've had my other Droid pushed to 165F for 10+ minutes at a time using 'Armageddon Squadron' Airplane flying battle game at 1.25/1.25...

Both Hot but within CPU tolerances... And definitely NOT typical usage temps...

Reminder time guys. We do not discuss rooted droids. That includes overclocking. There is a thread to discuss froyo for rooted people. Do it over there not here.
