A Thread Of Topics You Would Never Like To See Again

Why are you all on this forum if you hate to read the threads?? I had the same questions as everyone else when I bought my first smartphone. I got a lot of help here but didn't know it was such a hassle for the "pros" to answer stupid questions they have seen over and over. I love to see a question I asked before and got an answer to because then I could help someone who was new. I did use to love this forum...but I guess when you know all the answers, it's no fun...I'm surely not going to ask what I think might be a stupid question here...I'll just read and learn. Of course not from posts like this...Well I did learn something. If you get good enough with your phone, you can joke about newer people's questions.
In case you didn't read my post on the previous page...I will say it again - this thread is light hearted - all in fun - there is not one old time member that would not bend over backwards to help another member out, I have seen members stay up until the early hours of the morning to guide someone in the right direction, heck I have done it myself - No one here has all of the answers, I learn something new every day, just this morning someone with only a couple of posts gave me a greater understanding of a technical issue concerning the Droid X (which I don't own) - So see it as you wish, but if you choose to have a negative opinion about one thing and base your entire outlook on the Forum on that - then it is your loss

Lol. Hook u crack me up man. This thread is cracking me up.
For future overly sensitive posts: this is just for fun!! Seriously have u never gotten tired of seeing something but u understand, u suck it up, and u proceed? This thread is like a rerun of south park. Even tho u have seen it, are tired of it, u watch it anyways because it's south park! Have fun and post something u are tired of seeing! We aren't telling u not to post questions!!!

TP . I apologize sincerely. After I wrote this I deleted it, must not have hit the 2nd delete key. I realize it was all in fun and do genuinely appreciate all of the work and time that everyone puts in to help others. If it wasn't for the answers I have gotten here, I would just be using my phone to text and call people, but you all have made me realize what it can do and I enjoy it everyday... Again I apologize to everyone!! I did go back through every post and got a kick out of the thread which is why I tried to delete it unsuccessfully. Sorry about that..And I don't have a negative opinion of this forum. I have sent out the link to everyone I know that owns a Droid. If I had just hit delete twice I wouldn't have ticked you off...sorry and I really am a positive person, so hope you accept the apology and I can go on participating and learning..

dcook12 - thanks for coming back in and sharing some kind words, we all know that takes a lot and it is greatly appreciated

For what it's worth, I think that if the search function on this site worked better. there would be much less duplication. don't get me wrong, I am very grateful for all the work Bill and the others put in, and the wealth of information here. Many times though, the easiest way for me to find information on this site is to type the question into Google, and then look for search results that are on this site. Again, not being an ingrate, but this is my experience, and the reason for some of my duplicate posts.

The only reason the native D/F search function lacks in results is because members forget to tag their threads - if we all worked towards the same common goal the results would be better - I also use Google and then just add "Droid Forums" to whatever it is that I am searching for...and again key words or "tags" help with the accuracy of that too

BTW - Who is Bill :D

That's how I do it. That's how I found this thread, I put in Google "a Thread of topics Droid Forums."

The regular search did however turns something up for me the other day that Google didn't. So it's not totally useless, you just got use the advance search.

Another thing that would help is if people tagged their posts. I'm guilty of not doing that too.

But isnt there a better way to implement how searches work? Like for example, if there was a thread I wanted to find that had maybe 5 resplies, but I found very helpful. Lets say I remember that it had the words LCD screen in the title, so I type "LCD screen" in the search, and I get a million threads with screen in the title, and most dont include the word LCD anywhere. Ive been to forums where if you use the quotations around 2 words, it only looks for those two words together, or theres an option that asks if you want your results to return any of the words you searched for or both exactly as typed.

Anyways, not trying to complain. Just thought I'd ask why it can't be done. I know you suggested the tag feature, but lets be honest, most people here dont make more than a few topics just to have a a quick question answered. They wont ever use the tag feature.

I am reviving this old topic for a new pet peeve... Newbies whose first post is a question, they get a bunch of us answering (some even spending some time researching the answers), we post follow-up questions for more detail, and the newbie never responds again. When you go to look at their stats, you see they never even logged on again.

Why ask a question if you aren't going to come back and look at the answers?

Just needed to get that off my chest......

Alan
