I'm on the original leaked update 2.3.9 and want to go to the newest 340, Im not familiar with a lot of the tools out there and want to know if there is a way to go to 340 without losing everything? If so how and if not, how do I get to 340?

Just did that a couple of days ago, and I'm not the brightest guy out there technology-wise. What I'm trying to say is that if I could do it, anyone can do it.
Start by visiting the link below:

Droid X

Get to the last part, where it says:

Return your DroidX to stock unrooted 2.1

and follow the instructions. You will lose everything, but not really. If you have appbrain, there you have your list of previously installed apps. Once done, you reinstall them and voila!
Whatever is saved in your microSD card, you have nothing to worry about. I saved all my pics, vids and music in my PC, just in case, but I didn't need it, after this process, everything was still in my microSD card, although I'd recommend you to do the same thing I did, just in case (I'm sure there are other ways of doing it, but this is how I did it and it worked, so I'm happy)

I thought I bricked my phone because it just didn't want to boot, but after some patience, wiping data and cache and batteyy pull X 2, I was back in business. Phone is running better than ever. PM me if you have the same problem and can't get out of it.

I don't see why you would have any problems. Your installing an official release of 2.2 over 2.1. And this an FULL SBF, so it will update everything, it's like installing Vista over XP. Except 2.2 kicks a$$ and Vista blows well you know.dancedroid

Now keep in mind you WILL lose all your data and everything on your phone, but everything on your SD Card will be kept in tact, so I would highly suggest you backup everything do a little more research on SBFing if your new to it and or have a lot of questions. 90% of your answers can be found here, although if you can't find them on the forum using the search button then feel free to PM me and I can provide you with further help.

ok good, thanks again for the info and the link. I will be flashing this tomorrow. Ill let you know how it went.
