Wireless Tether now supports Infrastructure mode

Haha... was coming here to post same.

Fantastic news! Just tested it and it works great. Finally no more "Android Tether 1, Android Tether 2.... Android Tether 99" :)

Plus automatic connection now just works

Does this mean we can connect to a PS3 now? I've been using PDANet to do so, but wired. It would be cool to not have to go thru my computer for the ad hoc network.

Just use the 3g tether hack for the X and you can connect Xbox to it i am sure you can the PS3 as well..

So the free one from the market right?

Nope. The one on the market is still version 2.0.2. You need to download the latest version 2.0.6 here:

wireless_tether_2_0_6.apk - android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users 2.0.6 - Project Hosting on Google Code

Just updated through the market to 2.0.6

Looks like I was wrong! Well there you go, Christmas just keeps on giving ^_^.

Strange thing is the access control feature worked before upgrading, now I get an error that says my kernel does not support it. Anyone else?

Access control has *never* worked for me since Froyo. Which version were you using?

You're still fine, though. If you use AP mode and WPA2 encryption (not wep), its as good as using access control. No one will be able to use it without the password.

I had 2.0.2 and it worked fine for me. I know I can encrypt it, it was just easier using access control
