What does the "S" in Galaxy S stand for?

I googled and looked around but there's no definitive answer. Some people say it started with the iPhone and stands for speed but what does the "S" stand for in Samsung Galaxy S III?

I'M doubtful that there actually even is a specific meaning. I think they just do it to sound cool.
I have a Plymouth GTX and after all these years I still don't know what GTX stands for

Gran Turismo luXury? I can play this game all day lol.. I'm sure they didn't want it to be the overly used "GT" so they gave it a little Xtra

I think I looked this up with the GS2 and also came across series, which makes perfect sense.
